Wales Modified & Motor Sport Show

Wales Modified & Motor Sport Show

RC racing and crawling had a strong presence at this years first Welsh National Motorshow held at Chepstow Racecourse last weekend.

This huge event was a celebration of all things motor related in Wales. The jam packed weekend included live drifting demonstrations, passenger rally car rides, a 4X4 safari course, the Total Trials Motor Bike Display Team, go karting facilities, a fun fair, and of course some kick-ass radio control racing. Buggy and truggy drivers were out to become the first ever Welsh Modified RC Champion as they raced in front of the big crowds that attended the event. Notable performances included our own Hywel's 2 sons, Chris who romped home in the Electric 2WD final in his Team Associated B4, came second in the 4WD with his B44 and James who scord a very respectable 4th in the 1/8th nitro with his Associated RC8. Also an unmodified HoBao Hyper 12 Mini ST that won the truggy event against full scale 1/8th truggies! Paul receives his trophy after an astonishing performance with the HoBao Mini ST. The micro racers were also well represented at the event and attendees were able to race a host of RC18s for a small fee. Propping up ther bar for the day were the RC Rock Crawling gang. Their make-shift crawling demonstration saw 3 Axial AX10 Scorpions mounting anything that wasnt tied down including the well used bar and bar furniture. DIY indoor crawling. Overall the Welsh National Motorshow was a cracking event made better by some appreciation for the smaller scale RC vehicles we all know are just as much fun as their life sized relations. It was great to see the members of the Cardiff On-road & Buggy Racing Association and the Gwent Nitro Racers Club turn out in such strong numbers.
