Track Record and TQ for TC6

Track Record and TQ for TC6

The final round of this years BRCA 1:10 electric touring car series took place at West London over the weekend and it was another successful outing for Associated and the TC6.

Going into the final round of this years BRCA national touring car championship Team Associated were poised to take a good result in both the Super Touring and Pro Stock classes. Chris Slater and Zak Smith were looking good in Pro Stock for a top three place and so was Olly Jefferies in Super Touring. Chris Slater knew he was going to be up against it! He had no previous race experience of West London and from round one of qualifying he struggled to get to grips with the demanding West London layout. For Zak it was looking better, a steady start in round one was followed by a second place in round two. Zak was lacking the pace to challenge the front runners on this occasion but made it in to the A final middle of the grid. The Associated team hard at work. In Super Touring Olly Jefferies picked up where he left off at Halifax and Aldershot setting TQ with his new TC6. Since getting his hands on Associated?s new tourer Olly has set FTD at every round of the BRCA national series. This time he added a new track record to the list of achievements of the still to be released TC6. Joining Olly in the A final was Alan Bickerstaff. Showing there was still life in the older TC5 Alan qualified an excellent fifth for the A final. Steve Lander had a troubled meeting, as did Tom Jefferies, both drivers not really getting the finish to the championship they had hoped for. Both drivers had put in some solid performances during the season and can consider themselves pleased with their efforts. Cam McDonald was another driver who has had a mixed season, dogged by some bad luck Cam kept plugging away all year and has looked to develop as a driver and has become an integral part of the team. As Zak develops and shakes of his junior tag, the role of junior in the squad is now handed to Kyle Gardner who is another Associated team member developing for the future and had a good West London meeting. The Associated gazebo. It was party time for the team after qualifying with Chris Slater and Zak's mum Claire both celebrating their birthdays on day two of the West London national. The Associated catering department had extended themselves beyond their usual menu (the envy of the paddock) to include birthday cake and bubbly for the afternoon break, a great atmosphere as always in the gazebo and some light relief before the finals. Chris Slater?s lack of West London match practise cost him dear and he failed to make the cut for the A final. Chris would end up fourth in the series but can consider that a job well done, at the start of the season nobody gave him a second thought as a potential championship contender yet he led the standings for most of the season. Steve Lander?s efforts were rewarded with a solid top ten finish bringing his TC5 home ninth in the national series. Zak's TC5 (left), Cam hard at work (top right) and Olly giving Kyle some tips. Zak needed a good result to ensure a top three place in the series and duly delivered it. Fourth at West London meant third in the championship for Zak. A win at round one showed the potential of Associated?s young star, lets see what can do once he gets a TC6. Olly Jefferies finished second at West London after a tough battle with overall winner Andy Moore and championship front runners Chris Grainger and Elliott Harper. After a lengthy investigation into the tie-break, Olly was eventually given third in the series. He tied on points with Elliott and they both had the same amount of A final wins and the same number of second places! In the end it came down to the third place finishes and Elliott came out on top! Olly was left thinking what might have been if he had got the TC6 a few events earlier. Being middle of the pack is never a good place to be and Alan Bickerstaff paid the price. After getting off to a good start in leg one where the TC5 driver netted third the following finals were a struggle for Alan and he finished seventh. Congratulation to all the CML/Associated team on their season. Together they have built up a great team spirit and work hard as a unit to get the best out their equipment. CML would like to officially thank them for their efforts on track and in the way they promoted the Associated brand. Special thanks also to Jacquie and Kenny for the food which has kept the team fuelled up all season. Lots of exciting plans in the pipeline for next year and armed with the new TC6 expectation?s are high.
