TQ and Podium for TC6 at Halifax

Mixed weather and mixed fortunes for the AE team at round 3 of the BRCA national championships.

Last weekend?s BRCA touring car national at Halifax started with mixed conditions on Saturday but then on Sunday the weather was reminiscent of the previous round at Cotswolds with rain falling for nearly the whole day. In the Super Touring A final three team drivers made the cut with local driver Johnny Aird taking an excellent TQ ahead of Andy Moore and Matt White, with AE drivers Olly Jefferies in fourth and Alan Bickerstaff sixth. Olly and Alan work hard for little reward (left) with podium man Johnny 'Jo Jo' Aird (right). The three leg A finals were hard work for the team who didn?t get the best out of the TC6 as the track changed from greasy to wet mid final, the end result saw Johnny take a fine and well fought podium place in third with Olly and Alan finishing in sixth and seventh places respectively. In the 10.5 stock class four team drivers made the A, the highest being Zak Smith in fourth, Andy Murray was sixth, Tom Jefferies made his first ever national A final and lined up ahead of his more illustrious team mate and championship title contender Chris Slater. The mixed weather condition impacted heavily on the stock runners and a few top names fell foul of the conditions, Chris considered himself lucky to make the A final at all. After the frantic finals Chris has made excellent progress to finish third overall with Zak just behind him in fourth. Another TC6 driver going well in the 10.5 class was Mark Hancock who convincingly won the B final, Mark needing a good result after missing his home event at Cotswold. The academy drivers all performed well once again although missing from the racing was Ross Walker, Ross fell and broke his arm badly at the BRCA clubman?s event the previous weekend. To cheer him up bodyshell airbrush supremo Graham ?Custom Blitz? Smith did a special terminator paint scheme for his cast, I guess it?s true to say Ross "will be back." Dry cars did not get out of the pits on Sunday (left) and Ross 'Will be back' (right).
