Team Yokomo performs well at KO GP

Team Yokomo performed well at last weekends K O Grand Prix, Olly Jefferies finishing third after a dramatic first leg battle with eventual overall winner Adam Rogers, Lee Woodhams also performed well in the modified A final and in 27 turn stock Rob West qualified third in the A final with his Yokomo BD.

The KO Grand Prix is now well established as the top race meeting the UK touring car calendar, 200 drivers started this years meeting held, as usual, at the West London Race Way. Three classes are catered for at the KO, 27 turn stock, 19 turn super stock and modified, and the entry for each class read like a UK national entry list. In the modified class Olly Jefferies and Lee Woodhams flew the flag for team Yokomo / Checkpoint and both qualified in the A final, Olly third and Lee 10th, John Pape was unfortunate not to make the A getting ?bumped? to the B in the last round of qualifying. Rob West?s impressive form continued in 27 turn stock and he qualified third, the finals were not kind to Rob and despite finishing 2nd in the second leg of the stock A, Rob was slightly disappointed to be down in 5th in the final placing. In the 19 turn catagory, Stuart Cann qualified 9th with his Yokomo BD and was unlucky not to make more of ?home? advantage finishing 10th in the super stock A final. The first of the three legged modified A finals were a cracker. David Spashett got the jump on Adam Rogers and this set up a classic battle between Adam, Olly and Andy Moore for second. The crowd were treated to an exciting battle for the whole race culminating in a last gasp dive for the finishing line, both Olly and Adam crossed the loop on exactly the same time and then having to be split by their qualifying position. After three legs of the A final Adam took the win from David, Olly an excellent third place and with Lee Woodhams having an eventful finals and eventually finishing 8th overall. The midfield of a modified A final can be a pretty busy place and Lee was kept on his toes for the entirety of the race! The youth of the Yokomo team did very well, Alistair Graham making the A with his BD also claiming the top junior in the 27 turn class, and all this only a week after wining his class at the BRCA juniors. Microtech sponsored driver Ayrton Anderson claimed the second junior in the 19 turn class and also making it a family affair, Aryton?s sister Chloe, was the youngest driver at the meeting driving a Yokomo LSG. Team Associated were also present at the KO GP with team driver Alan Bickerstaff making the trip over from Ireland. Alan qualified second in the B final with his Novak brushless powered TC 4 and reached 5th place in the finals. The KO showing its International appeal, Maltese driver Josh Anatasi made the trip to London in which he is a regular visitor. The driver Qualified 6th and finished 4th in the modified B final with his Checkpoint powered Yokomo BD.
