Team Yokomo driver OJ takes first National win

It was another great weekend for Team Yokomo and in particular Olly Jefferies who scored his first Modified National win at last weekends round of the BRCA National Series, Lee Woodhams also had his best ever national result finishing third.

Despite the absence of Chris Grainger who was at home sick, Team Yokomo scored their best result of the year claiming two of the top three places at round five of the BRCA national championship held at the excellent new facility in the Cotswolds. In the practise sessions Olly used his local knowledge to good effect and sparkled in the wet and dry conditions. Once the stopwatches were set it was world champion Andy Moore that set the qualifying pace, Adam Rogers second and Olly third. Also looking good in mixed conditions was Team Assoicated driver Craig Drescher with the new prototype. Olly lined up third for the A final with his Yokomo / Checkpoint team mate Lee Woodhams an excellent fourth place. Despite troubles in the last qualifying run when the track was actually at its best Craig still managed to squeek out a seventh place finish in the A with his Novak brushless powered TA machine. Both A finals were a nail biting affair. In the first final Olly battled hard with Adam Rogers and eventually worked his way passed and proceeded to chase down Andy Moore. Olly closed in on Andy rapidly and the Hot Bodies car faltered and gave Olly his chance. Olly had led A finals before but never won one, but today was to be his day and he took the first leg win to put him in control. With Andy Moore finishing well down in the first final with a faultering car, the overall result was centred on the battle between Adam and Olly, the second final was a mirror image of the first with Olly climbing all over the back on Adam putting him under immense pressure from the start. The pressure paid off and Adam finally lost his position to Olly letting him past though there wasnt enough time to catch Andy but gave Olly a second place and the overall victory. With the concentration of the field in the upfront battle, Lee Woodhams was quietly getting on with his job and consistenly finishing which gave him his best ever national result to date a third overall. Often the victim of a little bad luck in the past Lee shock off his demons and netted an impressive haul of championship points which should secure him a good top ten place in the series. Andy Robson was also looking very quick but a rouge set of tyres spoilt his day and an A final place. Andy eventually finishing third in the B final, also making it into the B final were two more Team Yokomo drivers in the form of Mark Wallace and John Pape. Congratulations to all CML drivers on a superb job, and a special thank you and well done to the Cotswold Model Car Club for a superb meeting at what must be one of the best tracks in the country!
