Team Magic sets the pace again

The second round of the BRCA Touring series took place at the fast and high grip circuit of Mendip, Weston-SuperMare.

For Saturday practise the track was unsually slick, mainly due to the warm and sunny weather, this meant lap times were quite slow, but as Sunday dawned it was a little cooler with some cloud cover too which resulted in some good grip quick laps. After qualifying it was Darren Johnson who took a stunning TQ for Team Magic by four seconds, from Ben Kelsall and Gareth Bell, With Stephen Lander putting his G4S in the main final too. Everyone seems to have learned from the last couple of years at Mendip, and there was a lot less grip roll about, despite the high grip. At the start of the A final, Ben got by Darren, and they started to gap the rest of the field slightly, by the first fuel stop, Darren had got back in the lead whilst Ben had a small moment which allowed the gap to open up to between 6 and 8 seconds. This stayed the same for the rest of the race until the last fuel stop, when Darren's engine cut. Alex quickly got it started, but the gap to Ben leading was now 4 seconds. Darren chased hard setting his fastest lap of the race in his last stint to close the gap to just under a second at the flag! What a race! Once again the Team Magic G4S set the pace, and the team will hoping for a trouble free race at the next round at Halifax.
