TC5 Right on the Pace at Mendip

TC5 Right on the Pace at Mendip

As the BRCA touring car championship draws to a close the Associated TC5 finished the year on a real high at the last round at Mendip.

In Pro Stock it?s been a frustrating year for the team but Steve Lander and Zak Smith turned all that around at the Mendip meeting qualifying fourth and fifth for the Pro Stock A final. Using Novak power, the cars stretched their legs on the big Mendip track and in the finals it was Zak who delivered a top result making it onto the podium finishing third. Many people have been watching Zaks performance this year and its great to see our young star deliver a top result. A top three place for Steve in the last final gave him fourth overall, his best showing of the year. Steve Lander has a bad hair day. In the Super Touring class Olly Jefferies was already guaranteed third place in the championship but was keen to put in a strong last round performance, Olly qualified third behind newly crowned champion Chris Grainger and Ben Cosgrove. In the finals Olly was 'Mr Consistent' finishing second in all three legs of the A final. This gave him second place at the meeting behind the eventual winner Chris Grainger, and ahead of Matt White. Andy Robson and Alan Bickerstaff also put in a solid performance, both narrowly missing an A final slot, Andy qualifying second in the B final with Alan fifth. In the championship both Steve and Zak narrowly missed out on a top ten place in the Pro Stock class finishing eleventh and twelfth respectively, while in Super Touring Olly finished third overall with Andy Robson seventeenth and Alan Bickerstaff a very credible thirteenth.
