NitroXcross Rounds 9 & 10

NitroXcross Rounds 9 & 10

Rounds 9 & 10 of NitroXcross series had to be re-arranged at short notice to East Shrewsbury's Dirt Track.

The club members had put in a lot of hard work and time preparing the track over the previous very hot weekend and it certainly paid off as the racing was great with dust levels vastly reduced.  The track is tight and technical with a mixture of table tops, sweeping banked corners, step section and a double that proved a challenge for some.

Matt Cunnington competed on both days and had a good qualifying session on Saturday which placed him 6th in the B Final and after a hard-fought race he went on to finish 3rd, bumping up to the A Final.  He got off to another good start in the A and was up from 15th to 9th when some intermittent electrical gremlins appeared, but he drove consistently and managed to finish the final.

Sunday was a very similar day qualifying 8th in the B Final he was up to 3rd place again for another bump up it wasn’t to be with a few mistakes dropping him to 6th.

Matt said “The Team Associated RCB3.1 was great and only needed a slight tweak to the set up and was spot on! “

The tyre that worked the best on the dirt track for Matt was the M2 Proline Holeshot

Setup

Matt has an entry this weekend for Round 3 of the National BRCA Rally X Series at JC Raceway with his Team Associated RC8B3.1 so we wish him the best of luck.

Andy Cooper had hot footed it off his plane on his return from holiday to compete on the Sunday and had a good qualifying session and started 10th in the C Final but got caught up in a tussle on the first lap which pushed him down to 15th, his Team Associated RC8B3.1 didn’t miss a beat and he clawed it back up through the pack to 4th place just missing out on the bump up to the B Final.
