Midland Dirt Masters

Midland Dirt Masters

The popular Midlands Dirt Masters took place last weekend. Dez Chand was there to claim a double win for electric off-road RC.

?THE? Dez Chand won both electric classes at this weekend THE Midland Dirt Masters, Baginton Coventry, organised with GB Modelsport to raise money for Midland air ambulance, with classes for buggy, truggy, electric 1/8th and Short Course. Dez ran his Coca Cola RC8e on 4S Reedy LiPo, running a 2200Kv motor on 15/46 gearing. Despite running in with the top heat of Nitro buggies Dez took a clean sweep of FTD and a win in both finals once all the electric buggies were sorted out into their own two leg ten minute finals. By staying consistent Dez set the fastest lap for electric buggy on the full circuit Dirt Track at Coventry with a 41.1 despite running against some buggies running faster motors and even some with 6S LiPo which were faster but heavier and less predictable/controllable. Power is nothing without control! In Short Course Dez qualified 2nd to Scott Bass (having helped Scott to tune his brushless motor for more speed) but wrapped up the overall win on count back, after a win a piece in the finals he beat Scott Bass with a 6 second advantage over the combined times of both finals. Running Proline Bow Fighter SC tyres on FTX SC rims Dez set the fastest laps in both finals. Dez?s Hyper 10SC is totally standard, as is his RC8e and the sum total of repairs and damage for the two day meeting on a huge, hard packed dirt track with lots of air time, for the two cars, over 7 rounds of qualifying and two legs finals, was a broken body post on the rear of the Hyper SC, you can't ask for much more than that! Graham Alsop won the rally cross, and Aaron Girling took the honours in the truggy class. Well done to all the Baginton CMCC crew, organisers and GB Modelsport for backing the event with a generous raffle!
