Kyle Gardner sure footed in the wet

Being part of the Associated on road team can provide some unexpected perks as Kyle Gardner found out as he became a video star for the day.

The Associated on-road team were approached by a media company to get involved with a series of on-line adverts for the Sure for Men toiletry range. The idea was to drag race various cars and vehicles at the famous Santa Pod Raceway near Northampton. Various cars were lined up for the shoot, including a super 1600 Proton rally car, versus a Bowler, a Evo Lancer and a BMW M3. The Associated TC6 found itself up against a radio controlled full size Toyota MR2. Loads of horsepower on show! The film crew requested a small lad so Kyle Gardner got the gig and popped an identical MR2 bodyshell on to his TC6 for the day. The weather was appalling and just getting off the line was difficult for every car, but just as the light started to fail the film crew got their required footage. The TC6 performed really well and in the hands of Kyle the TC6 was able to get off the line quicker than most of the full sized four wheel drive cars. The result of the race will be down to what the film crew decide after editing, but we can tell you that the TC6 was by far the quickest of the two cars. The full size MR2 was radio controlled (top, right) while the TC6 loves being in front of the camera (bottom). The videos will be online soon and we will post a link to them, you can watch Kyle with the TC6 along with a tractor racing and tank, a champion road cyclist dressed as batman racing a Reliant Robin (Batman and Robin, get it) and various other odd ball challenges. Despite the weather the day was a great success and the opened up some possibilities with the regards to future projects. The team filming and producing the videos are the same production team that work on Top Gear, and Team Associated has challenged a full size BTCC touring car to race against the TC6 around the top gear test track! The production team are excited about the possibilities and planning is in the early stages, so look out in the next series for some possible RC action on Britain?s most popular motoring programme. Thanks again to Kyle who put up with the cold, the rain and many re-takes.
