Keith Robertson shows his skills at the BRCA 12th

The final round of the 19t BRCA 12th season was the 2-day Grand Prix hosted by the Chesterfield club and saw the battle for the championship come to a head.

With a testing track for the drivers it would require plenty of concentration and a great handling car to be at the top. By the end of qualifying it was the two title rivals on the front row of the grid, the Associated L4 of CML / Microtech Racing driver Keith Robertson was just headed by Andy Griffiths on pole position. In the 3-legged finals it was all to play for as Keith made a couple of subtle changes to his set-up, meaning there was nothing in it for pace at the front. In the first leg Keith lost ground at the start but fought right back up to Andy to finish only a second behind. In the second leg it was super close racing again as Keith pulled a fine pass to take the lead but some bad luck with back markers cost him dear as Andy took the win. The third leg saw a win for Keith as errors crept into Andy?s racing as he tried to keep up. Keith going on to set the fastest lap of the weekend in this race. This meant that Andy took the 19t National title, only a couple of points ahead of Keith. A great battle fought in a fine racing spirit. As per usual this year, the Associated L4 was the numerically superior car in the A final. Keith?s L4 was powered by the Checkpoint Money 10t motor and SMC IB4200 WC cells with a Novak GTX speed controller.
