Joy for Johnson with G4

The Sixth round of the BRCA 200mm Touring Championship took place at the excellent Halifax circuit. This is the second time this season for the Halifax track but unfortunately the weather forecast was all too familiar.

Saturday practise was run in steady rain quite hard at times, but amazingly the track does not puddle at all, the cars even come off virtually dry when its raining! The forecast was a little better for Sunday, and although the first round started damp everyone managed to get at least one dry run. After qualifying, Stephen Brown took TQ from Mark Gilliland and Robin Hammett with Darren Johnson in fourth, and Stephen Lander making the A final with his Team Magic in eighth. Darren managed to get a great start and crossed the line second after the first lap, He then put a good move on Stephen for the lead and managed to pull away a little, but there was no time to relax as there were some different fuel strategies saving a bit of time. Darren's car remained consistent for the whole final and he was able to bring home the win as well as the fastest laps in the final. Stephen finished in second with young charger Kyle Branson keeping the older racers honest in third! So another good weekend for Team Magic, and after taking TQ at five rounds this season and two wins, Darren leads the championship from Kyle and Stephen. Darren used the new K-factory tyres, together with the Protoform Dodge 3.1.
