Johnson's G4 wins at Halifax

The third round of the BRCA 200mm Touring championship took place at the excellent Halifax circuit which resulted in an amazing debut win for the Team Magic G4+.

Although the weather forecast was not too promising, it turned out fine on Sunday, however Saturday practise was interupted by many heavy showers which meant no one had any dry running. This did show that the new surface had more grip in the wet than the old one! After qualiyfing Darren Johnson took a hard fought TQ by just one second from Mark Green, followed by Chris Slater, and Ben Kelsall. As at previous rounds the top 20 has been extremley colse, with just 6 seconds between 5th in the A and 5th in the B final ! With the track getting quicker all day as the grip went up a good final looked to be on the cards but racing would still be tricky as there was zero grip off the narrow racing line. Darren managed to get a little gap at the start of the final, whilst Mark Green had to pit early on for a quick engine tune which left at the back of the field with a fast car! Mark Gilliland made a great start from 6th on the grid, and had a very fast car, but had a cut before his first fuel stop, which put him down the order too. Darren then made sure he didnt make any mistakes and with some great pit stops came home to win by 14 seconds from Mark Green with Kyle Branson in third. So another good weekend for Team Magic, and after taking TQ at all three rounds this season and leading the finals, its good to bring home the win ! Darren used the new K-factory tyres, together with the Protoform Dodge 3.1.
