Herts Winter Series

Herts Winter Series

The Southern contingent of the CML/Associated team got their winter campaign off to a solid start this weekend at Herts Nitro Model Car Club.

Round 1 of Herts Winter series lived up to expectations, with racers greeted with a damp track . This combined with the normal highly competitive field made for a tricky qualifying, with most chasing the changing track conditions. Despite this, the team showed their metal and managed to get 3 drivers - Jamie Clancy, Simon Reeves and Darren Hayden-Ball, directly into the A final, with Chaz Goodwin dominating the B final and Ben Turner taking a hard fought final bump up spot to join them. This meant Associated was the most popular car in the final, with 5 cars set to battle it out. The highlight of qualifying for the team was birthday boy Jamie Clancy TQ'ing the last round with the 2nd fastest time of the day, after a perfect tyre choice from his dad Garry.

The main final got underway with a scrappy start, with many out of position drivers trying to make amends. After the carnage it was again Jamie Clancy leading the charge for the team, hauling himself back into 1st by midway point. After a hard battle 2nd place was his reward, another solid result for the youngster looking forward to next season. A special mention goes to Simon Reeves for overcoming a bad qualifying and winning the ebuggy class with the recently released RC8B3e, and another decent A main for Darren Hayden-Ball.

Once again a solid day for the team, growing in confidence with the new RC8B3 platform.
