CML team driver Steve 'old-dog' Haynes has made a great start to the 2011 large scale off-road 4WD national championship by winning both round 1 and round 2 using the FTX Punisher.

Round 1 - Nene Valley Raceway Qualifying Steve Haynes set a dominating qualifying time during round 3 of qualification at the Nene Valley Raceway with a time of 15/10m 7.81 in round 3 and with his closest rival on the day FTX Punisher driver Barry Clissitt with a time of 15/10m 26.84 and Guy Hayward in third with a time of 15/10m 30.64. Finals After the semi A and B finals the A final grid's top 4 positions had been taken by FTX Punisher drivers with Team CML drivers Steve Haynes and Darren Johnson taking the top 2 positions. It had been so far a great day for Team CML and the CML distributed FTX Punisher. Steve Haynes would be unchallenged for the lead during the 30 minute final setting a fast pace from the start that would give him a final race time of 45/30m 37.24. Darren Johnson would finish in 2nd with a time of 42/30 5.59 and MCD driver Glyn Taylor finishing in 3rd place with a time of 42/30 12.57. With the FTX Punisher taking 4 out of the top 5 positions on the day round 1 had been a great success for both Team CML and their FTX Punisher. Round 2 - KORT Raceway Qualifying Team CML/FTX Punisher driver Steve Haynes would once again be the driver to catch at round 2 of the large-scale 4wd off-road National Championship setting a TQ time of 6/5m 3.27 and with CML supported driver Darren Johnson qualifying in 2nd with a time of 6/5m 27.73 followed by MCD driver Glyn Taylor taking position 3 for the final with a time of 6/5m 34.30. Final Once again Team CML/FTX Punisher driver Steve Haynes would start the final from pole position with Team CML supported driver in 2nd followed by MCD driver Glyn Taylor. Steve Haynes led the final from start to finish setting a time of 35/30m 31.30 and with FTX Punisher driver Darren Johnson finishing in 2nd with a time of 33/30m 52.15 and MCD driver Glyn Taylor finishing 3rd with a time of 31/30m 25.74. Steve Haynes reported that after rain had wet the astro he opted for the Fastrax V spike tyre, He also ran them in the final and feels that this choice gave him the edge over the competition. With the next meeting for Steve Haynes being the E.F.R.A. UK GP being held at Nene Valley Raceway from the 20th -22nd may 2011 I asked Steve his opinion on the season so far and he replied "I could not of asked for a better start to the national championship with winning the first 2 rounds with my Team CML FTX Punisher, and with my next meeting being the E.F.R.A. GP held at the Nene Valley Raceway where I won round 1 of the Nationals I hope to have a good weekend for both me and my sponsors."
