Frankley Finale

Frankley Finale

Associated and HoBao dominated the last meeting at Frankley.

A near full house of drivers attended what unfortunately is likely to be the last ever meeting at the West Midlands venue of Frankley.  The club’s all astro-turf track has been around for many years and seen some great racing but has lost the use of its site.  The good news is the club will continue in a new guise as Brookthorpe Model Car Club near Gloucester.

A fond farewell to the awesome track at Frankley.

In the nitro buggy class CML’s Matt Lawrence’s return to racing has seen some great driving and he was on point for the 20 minute final, backed up by Team Associated RC8B3 team-mates Jon Griffiths, Pete Headley and Lloyd Bostock.  In the final Matt never looked back and went on to take a comfortable win ahead of David Brown and Peter Mumford.

In electric buggies it was CML’s Keith Robertson who took the new HoBao Hyper VS to the win ahead of Jake Knight and Colin Brennan.  To go with the new VS Roller kit Keith was using the Etronix Photon ESC with Voltz batteries – and an inspired choice in the mixed conditions to fit Fastrax Twister tyres meant he was able to lap the field in the 15 minute final.

In the Truggy section it was CML driver Jon Howells who dominated with the TQ and win driving the outgoing RC8T, finishing well clear of Carl O’Connor and Dan Workman who had a cracking battle for second.  Jon is really looking forward to getting his new Associated RC8T3 and bolting his Rex Legend engine into it for the upcoming national series.

A fine meeting for Frankley to finish with and hopefully the new venue will be just as successful.
