Fastrax Summer Series - Round 3

Fastrax Summer Series - Round 3

The third round of the CML sponsored Fastrax Summer Series took place at the Stoke Nitro Racing Club over the weekend.

1/8th Buggy Class In qualifying it was Ashley Timms who impressed most with the TQ for the meeting with Scott Francis second and Dennis Holding third. The start of the A-Final was very clean without the first corner pile-up that usually happens as all the racers charge to lead the pack. Ash got away very quickly with Ashlee Owen second fastest off the line and Scott in third. Ash Timms drove a good steady race and was not to be caught, leading throughout, with no problems with car or engine from start to finish. The real race was for second place with Dennis Holding tussling with Ashlee Owen for most of the twenty two minute final. Dennis had a poor start and Ashlee a good one but after lap eight they swapped places no less than seven times until Ashlee had car trouble on lap twenty eight. This gave Dennis a strangle hold on second with Clive Malands fourth placed car moving up to third. Race Winner Ashley was on Byron Gen2 25% race fuel. Victor Ashley Timms with CML's own pint-sized race representative Iain McCallum. 1/8th Truggy Class The Truggy "A" was TQ'd by Stewart quinn with Carl Dixon second and Mitchell Booth third. Unlike the buggy "A" final the truggies suffered the dreaded first corner pile-up with all the top six drivers aiming for the one corner slot available. It was CML Sponsored Sham Choudry who won the battle for first from six on the grid with Mitchell and Stewart second and third. After seven laps race leader Sham hit a tyre filled with concrete and broke a drive shaft so the race eas over for him. Stewart took up the mantle after earlier passing Mitchel on lap four with Carl on the trail of both the leading two. Carl eventually got past Mitchell after a rare mistake from the youngster and this remained the order of things until three minutes and two laps from the end. Disaster struck with the race leader Stewart running into engine problems and his car cutting. This allowed a great drive from Carl to be rewarded with the meeting win, and a somewhat unlucky Stewart to crawl over second with Mitchell three laps behind the top two. Stewart, Carl and Mitchell were all on Byron Gen2 fuel with Mitchell Booth running the Team Associated RC8T truggy. The Truggy class podium.
