Fastrax Summer Series - Round 1

Fastrax Summer Series - Round 1

The CML sponsored 2009 Fastrax Nitro Summer Series kicked off at the weekend and made the most of some decent weather and some competitive driving.

Truggy Class Sham Choudry TQ'd all three qualifying rounds by some distance with some very impressive driving. From the off in the A final Sham again got away cleanly and avoided the first corner pileup. Ten minutes in to the race and Sham looked to be cruising to victory with Ashlee Owen trailing a good second behind. Then came disaster! Sham lost a wheel and Ashlee seized the opportunity to passes him. By the time Choudry is back on the track he is two laps down and a lot of work to do. The final was a marathon twenty two minutes long and by the end there was only half a lap in it. However, it was Ashlee Owen who took the win in round one from Sham Choudry with Stewart Quinn in third. Sham was running with an RC8T Byron Gen2 Fuel and RB engine. Ashlee was running Byron Gen2 Fuel and RB engine. Stewart was also on Byron Gen2 Fuel. Buggy Class Stewart Mahon TQ'd the meeting with Richard Taylor a very close second not far behind. An incredible mix up with the pit men occurred when Stewart's man putting in fuel from colin griffins bottle and colins man doing the same. Colin's car was running 25% and Stewart's 30% so Stew's car was incredibly rich and Colin's blew a plug. The result was that Richard Taylor got away and led the final from start to finish with no problems, winning the final by a lap and a half. Elliot taylor was second with CML sponsored Mathew Tou a very credible third. Richard was running the new Reedy engine, Elliot was on Byron Gen2 Fuel and Mathew an RC8 and Byron Gen2 Fuel.
