CML driver Chris Heath reports back from 1/8th Circuit

Once again Chris makes the A final with his RB Xenon R engine. You can keep up to date with his progress round by round with Chris' exciting race diary.

Round 1 This heat started well but with starting 8th I soon found myself fighting to pass the other cars as I was much faster. This heat ended in the worst way possible, the car felt funny coming off the bottom sweeper and clipped the curb smashing down on a concrete curb which bent the chassis and smashed the fuel tank. This left us with racing to get our other car ready to run. Round 2 Got the car ready in time, JUST, and the race started the same as the last and sorry to say ended the same way. Another big crash but luckily I did not damage the car too badly. Yet another race on to get the car ready and on closer inspection realised the root course of the problem. We had put a new wing tap on the shell after the practice day with different bolts than what we normally use. These where working loose and falling off, and any 8th driver will tell you an 8th car without a wing tap just doesn't work and is very dangerous. Changed these and the car was fine from then on. Round 3 I entered this race with my nerves shot and knowing this was my last chance to get into the A Final. Had a great run of 24/ 312.21 which got me 4th in the A Final and still spent this qualifying over taking other cars, so very very happy. Round 4 To my surprise got a 4th round which we don?t normally, so this was a damage limitation exercise but also was my best opportunity to get the best result as I was starting second on the grid. The car was good but did not feel quite as quick, upon my return to the pits Justin advised he could not get the tick over right. Did not think anything about it and was just going to set for the final. Finished the run with a 23/ 305.47 and ended up 5th in the A Final. A Final Went into this final with the mind set of winning. Big crash on the first corner that I managed to get through but it did put me to the back of the grid. I started to fight my way back, reeling the cars in front of me in. I soon made my way back up to about 5th and then came in for a pit stop and the car cut out and died. Finished 8th overall again!!
