Chris Edges Closer at Bedworth

Chris Edges Closer at Bedworth

With an excellent performance at round four of the BRCA modified championship, reigning champion Chris Grainger edged a little closer to retaining the modified crown he won last season.

Newly crowned world champion Andy Moore set FTD with Chris a tenth of a second behind. It was a good meeting for the CML team with Olly Jefferies putting in another good qualifying performance putting his Yokomo BD forth. Also lining up in the A final was Craig Drescher with his Novak brushless powered Associated, the new prototype car getting more track time and looking better with every run. The first A final went very much to form, the first four pulled away and ran in grid order for the whole five minutes with Andy taking the win from Chris, Adam Rogers and Olly. The second final and Olly lost out early on after being hit from behind, he then got involved in a battle with Craig whose Associated car was looking really good. A small mistake by Craig let Olly through. At the end it was a win for Andy with Chris second, Olly fourth and Craig sixth. In the 27 turn stock class Rob West put his Yokomo BD seventh in the A final but after a torrid two finals finished seventh overall keeping his championship challenge on track. Lee Woodhams won the modified B final after a race long battle with his CML team mate and fellow Yokomo driver Andy Robson, both drivers a little disappointed to have not made the A final, both missing out on a top ten place by less than a second, as did Associated TC4 driver Richard Barton who split the Yokomo pair in qualifying. The Bedworth result now puts Chris Grainger well in the driving seat for the BRCA modified title, the next round of the championship is at the new track in the Cotswolds, but before then the team will travel to Germany to contest the Touring Car Euros, best of luck to them all?
