Carpet Thrashnals

Organised by Chippenham Model Car Club the Carpet Thrashnals Championship has attracted strong numbers for its 2009/10 series and once again is backed by CML.

Each round of the series counts as two scores with the two leg finals counting as one round each, so after two visits to the Christie Miller Sports Centre we are actually counting four scores towards the championship. Classes for Stock, 10.5 Pro Stock, 13.5 stock, 17.5 stock, Tamiya Mini's and World Gt's are all catered for and each round has seen strong entries of over 100 drivers. In Super Stock Markus Askell made a good start at round one and took the bulk of the points with his Team Magic TC. Markus followed his first round score with a maximum at round two. Sam Martin, Tom Green, Tom Watts and Jay and Glen Westwood were the front runners at round one in the Pro Stock class but both the Westwood brothers and Sam were missing at the second round. This leaves Tom Green and Tom Watts battling at the top of Pro Stock leader board. The second round was dominated by Associated/CML team driver Olly Jefferies who took FTD and both legs of the A final, Olly is only contesting a few rounds and using the series to test his TC5 on carpet. In the Mini's it's Derek and Mark Nash who are running away in the early stages of the series, however, this small and competitive little class is still close and a whole host of experienced drivers are snapping at their heels. At round two top 1:12 racer Keith Robertson turned up to race the World GT class. Keith dominated with his Associated RC10R5 winning ahead of fellow 1:12 racer Gary Dyson. This weekend sees round 5 & 6 of the series taking place and another strong entry is ready to do battle.
