Carisma rule the roost at Midlands Raceway Micro National

The first BRCA Micro national of the season took place at the up and coming venue Midlands Raceway venue in Cradley Heath. A permanent indoor venue for both 10th scale and Micro’s it is increasing in stature and they certainly put on a great debut meeting.

The first BRCA Micro national of the season took place at the up and coming venue Midlands Raceway venue in Cradley Heath.

With a carpet base the layout boasts all sorts of features such as rollers, a cross over, corner table top and even a wall of death.  It was definitely a testing track but times were still very close during qualifying.

Eventually it was touring car star Ben Cosgrove and his Carisma GTB who beat the other 81 racers to pole position for the A final at his first micro national event.  Second went to Phil Sleigh’s Carisma and Keith Robertson in third also with a Carisma car.

The finals were nail biting stuff. Reigning Champ Tony Bishop did his usual stealthy drive to make the most of errors from others to win the first leg. Keith Robertson took the second leg and Ben Cosgrove got it together in the final leg to leave everyone to wait for the final results.  With the scores added up it was Ben who took his maiden win, Keith in second and Tony in third.

A great result for the Carisma with a podium lock out and seven of the top ten using the GTB.

Many thanks to John from RC Images for the great photos.

See you for Round 2 in Swansea on the 8th November!
