BRCA Touring Car Nationals - Rnd 4

The popular Snetterton track hosted round four of this years BRCA touring car national at the weekend and once again it saw a strong solid performance from Team Associated.

Olly Jefferies was consistent throughout qualifying with four second places out of five runs, this put his TC5 second on the grid for the Super Touring A final. Narrowly missing out on an A final place was Andy Robson and Alan Bickerstaff, they lined up second and third for the B final with their TC5?s. In Pro Stock we saw a another strong performance from Zak Smith. Despite problems in the early runs which left the Associated young gun on the back foot Zak recovered to take a place at the back of the grid in the Pro Stock B final. The Associated tent ranks in the Top 10 of coolest places to be in RC. Tyre strategy was key at the weekend. Olly opted to run used tyres in the first final and try and hold off the chasing pack most of which were on new rubber. A solid third place in the first final was his reward for some very defensive driving. In the second leg Olly?s new tyres did not give the performance advantage expected and after two minutes Olly pulled off. The final leg saw Olly finished second and in doing so secured third overall at the meeting. A win in the first of the B finals and a second place in the third was enough to give Alan Bickerstaff an excellent second in the B final with Andy Robson finishing sixth, both drivers were delighted with the increased performance of the TC5 following some intensive testing the week before the national. Olly and Alan busy planing their world domaination. In the Pro Stock B final Zak struggled from the back of the grid but managed to improve on his starting place and came home eighth. The Pro Stock C final saw Steve Lander and Chris Slater finish second and third, a particularly good result for Chris who is new to electric and was running one of Steve?s spare cars. "Overall this was a good team performance, in Super Touring particularly we made another big step forward and Alan and Andy were unlucky not to be up with me in the A final. In their respective finals they drove really well and worked as a team to get a result?[i] Olly said. [i]"For me it was a solid performance under difficult conditions, we had no performance advantage and the field were all pretty close, it was a case of not making any mistakes as an error could have dropped me out of the top five in qualifying and the same for the finals, I needed to keep my head, I seem to spend most of the three finals defending my position. I am pleased for the rest of the team who all drove well and gave it 100% as always? The result nets Olly third overall in this years championship with one round to go, Mendip next month. The meeting was won by Chris Grainger from Andy Moore, the results gives Chris his fifth consecutive domestic title, well done from CML to Chris on an superb achievement
