BRCA 12th modified British GP

For the final round of the British Championship, the 12th section saw another great meeting hosted by the Hereford club. With a big open track, it was all set to really show off the speed of these cars, and with this being a 2-day meeting for modified/brushless motors there was to be some real fast action!

After 6 rounds of qualifying it was Andy Griffiths on pole position, with CML / Microtech Racing driver Keith Robertson alongside him on the front row with his Novak/SMC powered Associated L4. The first leg of the final saw a close race; there were a couple of racing incidents that were sorted out by the drivers in a very sporting manner, with Andy taking the win over Keith by a few tenths. In the second leg, a bad start from Keith saw him fall down the order, but he fought his way back up and made it to the front as other suffered mechanical issues ? taking the easy win. The final deciding leg again saw a bad start from Keith as Andy got away never to be headed, as once more Keith made his way back up through the field, running out of time to catch Andy but taking third place behind Matt White. This left Keith in a fine 2nd place for the meeting, and the championship with Andy taking the win. Another CML / Microtech Racing driver, Paul Ash put in some top finals performances to come from 6th on the grid to take the last podium position in third. Once more the Associated L4 was the preferred choice of car for the majority of the top ten drivers, also taking 6 of the top 10 places in the final championship positions.
