BRCA 1/8th Nationals - Rnd 5

The fifth round of the BRCA 1/8th Off Road series was held at the Shrewsbury venue over the weekend. The racers were greeted with a fast and flowing circuit and some very windy conditions.

Qualifying was all about Neil Cragg, Neil taking all three rounds with his RB/Byron powered Associated RC8. Neil's car was sporting the new, soon to be released Big Bore shocks. After Neil the qualifying times were very close as was expected on this type of track and plenty of drivers managed to get one good round with a reasonable one to back it up which gave some drivers who don't usually make the main final a good opportunity. The track at East Shrewsbury Buggy Racing Club. The main final turned into a fantastic battle between Neil and Darren Bloomfield, these two for 27 minutes were never more than 5 seconds apart. At times Neil could open the gap and then Darren closed it down until with time time running out, Darren in a final push to get on the back of Neil, made a couple of mistakes which allowed Neil to cruise to the flag. In third was Graham Alsop with his RB/Byron Hyper 8.5, Graham maintaining his run of top 3 finishes. Neil & Elliott's cars with AE Big Bore shocks and the top 3 from the final. Craig Drescher drove his best event 1/8th event to date with his RB/Byron powered RC8. You can download Craig's RC8 Setup Sheet. All three of the CML drivers used Proline Step-UP M2 tyres for the 30 minute main final. These results look to have made the championship a battle between friends and rivals Neil and Graham, we look forward to the next round at Pendle.
