BRCA 1/10 Off Road - Rnd 2

The Associated B44 and Yokomo BMAX-4 prove to be the best cars in the 4wd class as Lee Martin continues his rich vein of form.

Sunny Oswestry was the venue for the 2nd round of the BRCA 1/10th Off Road series, and as in previous years it was fairly large grass track with a few man made jumps. The 2wd event was taken by current BRCA Champion Ellis Stafford using Savox servos in his car, with his team mate and round 1 winner Phil Sleigh taking second. Oswestry Radio Car Club track in Shropshire The 4wd event was a very close affair with about 6 drivers in contention for overall TQ going into the last round of qualifying. Lee Martin was the man who emerged on top after a great last round drive. Lee was closely followed by team mates Neil Cragg and Paul Bradby creating a top 3 lockout for the Factory Associated B44 drivers. Neil was making his first national appearance with the car after his close season switch from Yokomo and was still getting used to the characteristics of the car throughout the meeting. The first final was taken by Lee Martin with controlled drive at the front in which he never looked in danger. Taking second in this leg was round 1 winner Tom Yardy with his Reedy/Novak powered Yokomo BMAX-4. Tom picked his way through from 6th on the grid as other made mistakes trying to catch Lee. A moment of quiet contemplation for current 4wd European Champion Neil Cragg. The second leg was a frantic affair in which about 5 drivers took a turn at the front and blew it. Through the carnage it was Ellis Stafford who picked his way through to eventually take the win, despite a late charge from Neil Cragg who was looking inside and out all the way around the final lap without being able to make a pass. With the erratic results from leg 2 there were many drivers in with a shout of a win going into the final leg. It was Lee Martin who emerged with the victory after another tense final. Lee is on a rich vain of form after his 1/8th win last week and it showed in his impressive final display. Paul Bradby, Lee Martin and Neil Cragg are all proud to be part of the Associated Team. Tom Yardy forced the Yokomo into second overall and this gives him a great start to the campaign after his TQ & win at Round 1. Neil Cragg took an overall third place after some tough finals with his B44, making it a CML lockout on the podium with 2 B44's and 1 Yokomo taking the spoils. We now look forward to the next round at Eden Park Raceway in south London.
