Blaze Reigns at first Micro Nationals

Blaze Reigns at first Micro Nationals

The 9th of Sept 2007 saw the first ever round of the British Micro Nationals. Held at Bury-Buggy-Club nr Bury St Edmonds it was a very challenging and exciting track closely fought by those who attended.

From the first round of practice it looked like the FTX Blaze of Chris Bottle was the quickest out of the pro stock drivers while Chris Oxley showed he would be mighty fast in the modified class. So into the first round, pro stock favorite and CML team driver, Steve Davis struggled, as he did in practice, to get a clean run and CML's very own hero Wes Myles would take the top spot with a clean unhassled run. In the modified class it was BRCA Micro Chairman Cris Oxley who took the quickest time with relative newbie Jamie Curtis in second. Round 2 and Wes Myles' 1st round time wouldn't be beaten although Chris Bottle won the round but was a lap off the pace (apparently drink induced from a late Saturday night) Round 2 of the modified it was Jamie Curtis (FTX Blaze) who took the top spot with a time slightly quicker than the first round. Round 3 saw Wes Myles up the pace slightly to take TQ again and what would end up to be the fastest time of the day. This put him on pole for the A final pro stock. Although it was close in round 4 when a mistake by Wes meant that Steve Davis had a reasonably clear run and challenged for the TQ spot. It was close but no cigar as Steve won the round but missed TQ by 5 seconds. Round 3 of the modified again went to Cris Oxley and would remain unchallenged through round 4 and Cris would start the A final modified on pole. The stock final ran first with Wes Myles on pole. Off the line Wes made a slight error and Steve Davis and Chris Bottle would get through and would not look back until the race ended with Dan Osbourne in 3rd, A distraught Wes suffered a broken shock and retired. The modified final with Cris Oxley on pole and Jamie Curtis in second both running Blazes. Cris managed to get off the line with out any issues and led from start to finish and Jamie Curtis ran a faultless race to finish right behind Cris in 2nd and BRCA P.r.o Bill Pier in 3rd So all in all, after an excellent first ever UK Micro National series meeting, the new Micro class is off to a brilliant start. Next meeting on the 7th October at Stafford. www.ukmicrox.co.uk/venues.html www.uk-microrc.co.uk
