Baird Wins Irish National Round 2

Baird Wins Irish National Round 2

The second round of the Irish 1:8 Off Road National Championships took place at the all astro turf surface Navan Nitro Nuts over the weekend where Bradley Baird won by over 1.5 laps.

Bradley's RB powered RC8B didn't have it all his own way in qualifying with Chris McCauley (Xray) TQing round 1, Bradley round 2 and Barkley Abernathy (XRay) round 3 & 4 to take a well deserved pole position. The final got off to a great but bumpy start which saw Barkley, Bradley and Alan Scroggie (Xray) getting away from the pack and having a close but clean three way battle for about the first seven minutes of the final. Then, after some very close racing, Bradley settled into his rhythm storming away from the leading pack to win the 45 minute final by almost 1.5 laps over second placed Barkley and third placed Alan. Aaron Vance took a strong 4th place and 5th went to Gary Baird and his RB powered Kyosho (a great drive given 3 flamouts!) Well done all and it bodes well for a very exiting Paddy Piston Race this coming weekend. Can a local driver take the title back?
