Associated Dominate Schumacher Winter Open

CML & Team Associated drivers Olly Jefferies and Chris Slater proved too much for the opposition at the Moto Arena.

The first major touring car meeting to be held at the fantastic Moto Arena venue at Silverstone took place last weekend The Schumacher Winter BTCC Open attracted a good number of drivers with some top UK national drivers complimenting the quality entry. The Associated on-road team had a strong presence on the entry list with Chris Slater and Zak Smith on hand in the Pro Stock 10.5 class. In the super touring class Olly Jefferies and Pro Stock convert Steve Lander were flying the Associated flag. The track at the Moto Arena, Silverstone. In qualifying, both the major classes were dominated by Associated with Chris Slater taking FTD in Pro Stock and Olly taking the top spot in Super Touring ahead of Chris Grainger. Olly was using the new TC6 while the rest of the team were showing there is still plenty of life left the in old TC5. Tom Jefferies lined up an excellent sixth for the Pro Stock A final just ahead of Zak Smith. Leg one of the A final saw Chris under pressure from Andy Robson for the entire five minutes of the race but Chris held on to take the win. In Super Touring Olly was expecting pressure to come from Chris Grainger but it was another Schumacher driver that was making him work hard! Early on in the final Chris moved over to let Colin Price through and Colin pushed Olly hard. Olly held on to take a slightly controversial win after the two drivers came together in the last corner. Leg two and a much easier ride for both Associated drivers this time. Both Olly and Chris both controlled the pace from the front and went on to take top spot giving them a clean sweep of the A finals and overall victory. The Associated Junior Academy driver won the 10.5 Pro Stock B final taking both legs from third on the grid. Kyle Gardner was another academy driver going well and Kyle took the 10.5 Pro Stock C final. Olly's gorgeous TC6 and Chris' very pink TC5 (left). Kyle picks up his winners trophy (right). Steve Lander was using the meeting to re-acclimatise to the Super Touring pace after two seasons of pro stock racing. Steve finished a little off the pace in the C final, but was pleased at the performance of his Novak brushless system. Steve?s car had good pace and he was happy with the ongoing development of the Novak system in the Super Touring class. Congratulations to Schumacher racing for putting on the event and introducing a few new drivers to the Moto Arena venue. The team from Northampton ran a slick event which was well received by all the drivers. The Associated Team.
