Associated L4 and Checkpoint take 12th National win

Round 1 of the BRCA 12th circuit National championship was hosted by the Tamworth club, and it was good to see plenty of new faces turn up along with the series regulars for two days of fast but fun racing.

In 19t on the Saturday, CML / Microtech Racing driver Keith Robertson took the pole position, narrowly ahead of Andy Griffiths. The final was an amazing display by the lead group who ran nose to tail for the whole 8 minutes. Keith eventually claiming the win with his Associated L4 using the Checkpoint Money 19t motor for the first time along with SMC IB4200SHV cells, Novak GTX speed controller and Jaco tyres. Onto Sunday for the modified class and the cars were flying round the track. This time Keith qualified a fine second place to Andy Griffiths. The start of the A final was a little fraught with and a subtle change to the car not having the effect Keith desired, but still coming home in 3rd place, this time using a Checkpoint 10 x 2 motor as a power plant. Overall, Associated cars took 7 ?A? final places in 19t and the same again in the modified class - once again proving it?s status as the car to have.
